We are pleased to announce the International Workshop on
Sources of Polarized Leptons
and High Brightness Electron Beams, PESP2010, to be held
Sept. 21 — 24, 2010 in Bonn,
Germany. The workshop will be hosted by the Physics Institute of Bonn University.
Since 1988, workshops on Polarized Electron Sources and
Polarimetry have been conducted
as satellite workshops preceding the biennial international
SPIN
Physics Symposium. In the
last decade, these PESP workshops were mostly devoted to the
generation of polarized
electron beams, and contributed significantly to the rapid progress
in the development of reliable
sources and dedicated photocathodes. In view of the expanding and
challenging field of the production of high brightness lepton
beams, the workshop topics have been extended to cover the demands
of modern accelerator development and application. In particular,
the generation of high brightness and high intensity unpolarized
electron beams (DC and pulsed), required by novel light sources
(FEL, ERL), has been included as a major topic in the scientific
program. Polarized beams form another key topic, which has been
extended to the generation of polarized positron beams, as
e.g. required for future linear colliders. Besides the
presentation of recent developments in these fields and status
reports from laboratories worldwide, additional emphasis is put on
the applications of polarized electron beams, such as electron
microscopes and spintronics.
We invite you to mark your calendars for PESP2010. Registration
and abstract
submission will be open from May 1, 2010.
We look forward to welcoming you at PESP2010 in Bonn.
Sincerely yours,
Wolfgang Hillert, chair PESP2010, on behalf of the local organizing committee
